What do centenarians have in common part 1

Glutathione

Centenarians (people, who lived more than 100 years) are fastest growing group of people in United States. Intensive medical research of centenarians is under way to find the secret of longevity. One of the interesting findings upon studying 41 centenarians 100 to 105 years of age, when compared with people of 60 to 79 years old was a presence of high levels of glutathione, the molecule that is present in each cell in our body.
What was even more interesting is the fact that more vigorous centenarians tended to have the highest glutathione activity.
There are more than 100000 studies published in regards to glutathione and most of them found that longevity is associated with high blood concentrations of Glutathione.
So what is Glutathione, this miracle substance that is associated with increased survival?
Glutathione (GSH) is a molecule containing 3 amino acids namely glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine and is a body master anti-oxidant. It exists in each of our cells in cytoplasm, nuclei and mitochondria. It was discovered in 1888 but only by 1980 scientists realized that glutathione plays pivotal role in all aspects of health.
GSH is body’s master antioxidant, without it each cell would be killed by attacks of free radicals. Simply speaking free radicals cause our bodies to rust and glutathione prevents us from rusting. Aside from that the highest level of glutathione is found in the liver and without it we would succumb to ever increasing accumulation of toxins because it is in the liver that toxic substances are detoxified and prepared to be evacuated by kidneys.
Researchers found out that glutathione is an Antioxidant’s antioxidant.
For example such well known antioxidants as Vitamins C and E after scavenging free radicals become oxidized themselves and start attacking body cells. Glutathione deoxidizes ( reduces ) them to their initial state, so they can continue their work preventing such degenerative diseases as Arthritis, Cancer, Heart diseases, Diabetes and Macular Degeneration.
Glutathione plays active role in detoxifying our body from pollutants and carcinogens, stabilizing cell membranes, regulating healthy protein and DNA biosynthesis.
Dr. Gustavo Bounous, a leading Canadian glutathione expert says that the limiting factor in the proper activity of our white blood cells is the availability of glutathione.
That means that our immune system cannot protect us from viruses, bacteria and toxins without adequate presence of glutathione.
Scientists estimated that 95 percent of cancers are caused by never ending attack on our DNA from environmental pollution and diet. Glutathione serves as an antidote reacting with these harmful molecules thus making them harmless.
Glutathione is found to be beneficial in such conditions as autism, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune diseases, asthma, diabetes, and lung disease, gastrointestinal inflammatory disease such as Crohn’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig ’s disease, Parkinsonism and cataracts.
Unfortunately Glutathione is very poorly absorbed when taken by mouth.
The best way to raise your levels of Glutathione is by Intravenous infusion.

In our office we provide IV glutathione therapy at an affordable price.
So if you are ready to boost your glutathione levels and increase your chances of longevity– give us a call.

Don't procrastinate, start Hormones early.

When I talk to my patients and friends about starting Hormone Replacement Therapy I often hear that fear of cancer is main reason not to start hormones. When I hear their response I remember what my father, the prominent oncologist, used to say.
" Cancer is merciful disease, it kills it's victims, look at all these diseases that linger for decades and tortures the sufferers like stroke for example or arthritis."
Recent article in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences is another proof not only for the need of HRT ( Hormone Replacement Therapy ) but the necessity of starting it early after the commencement of menopause.
As soon as hormone levels start to drop body starts a process of adjustment to the lower hormone levels and after several years bothersome symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats and others subside. However the process of living without healthy levels of hormones lead to many undesirable changes in body genetics and chemistry that promote development of most of the Natural Diseases of Aging namely : Obesity, Diabetes, Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, Immuno depresion, Hyperadaptosis, Depression and Cancer.
Just imagine a victim of stroke. Paralysed on one side or unable to read and understand speech, unable to control urine or stool or blind.
The longer time woman is deprived of sex hormones the more adjustment changes take place and at a certain time these changes become irreversible.
This latest article just proves that the earlier you start your hormone replacement the better and gives another reason to seriously consider HRT as soon as you start process of menopause or about 10 years before periods stop.

Cofee may reduce a deadly prostate cancer in men.

Drinking coffee, as long as I remember, invited friendly remarks about high blood pressure and heart risks. Recent scientific findings, however, discovering multiply health benefits of coffee drinking such as reducing risk of diabetes, gout, breast cancer.
In this study the relationship between coffee drinking and prostate cancer was examined and health benefits of coffee was once more confirmed.
I am sure that pharmaceutical companies already pursue research to identify the active compound and make a drug, that will cost a bundle and will be prescribed for every aging male instead of recommending drinking this delicious and healthy beverage.

I love salty food.

It's time to end the war on salt.

All of my life I loved salty food. Never sweets.
I salt my food before I taste it. For me tasty means salty.
If food is salty enough it is tasty.
My friends, their parents all looked at me with scorn watching me adding salt to soup, salad, meal. I like buckwheat with salt, not sugar. I like salty rice and not a rice pudding. I hated some dishes that my grandmother, a great culinar, used to cook in paricilar sweet and sour beef .
When I order duck in french restaurant and I looove duck, I always ask if it is sweet, and if it is I order other meal.
When approached by somebody at the table that I should cut my salt intake, I usually ask: why?
Lay people and doctors alike stated to me that it is well known fact that salt in not good for me.
My answer was that I do not see why salt would be bad for me if my body has impecable mechanism for controlling the salt content of my body.
If I crave salt, or if I like salty food doesn this mean that my body needs salt.
Just like when you want to drink your body needs some water.
Sodium content of the body is the most basic constant in the body, it is the same like in the water of Pre Cambrian ocean where life began - 0.9 percent.
Can you imagine how happy I was when I read the following article.

It's time to end a war on salt.
