Nicotine has undergone an image overhaul, at least biomedically. In the past few years researchers have found that the substance can alleviate symptoms of ailments such as Alzheimer's disease and ulcerative colitis. Just how nicotine battles these foes, however, has remained unclear. Now, by studying sepsis, Luis Ulloa of

There is interesting body of research on use of low dose of drug naltrexone in treatment of immunity related diseases such as Crohn's disease, MS, multiple cancers.
Remarcable improvement and stabilization of patient conditions were confirmed by clinical studies.

Did your doctor prescribe Melatonin to you ?
As an antiaging physician I prescribe Melatonin to almost every patient of mine. I do it to improve their sleep, normalize their circadian rhythm, improve endocrine function, support Growth Hormone production.
Melatonin is powerfull antioxidant and was implicated as anti - cancer agent.
Now there is a discovery:
"Agomelatine" was the word on everyone's lips at the annual congress of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
This first Melatonergic ( Melatonin like acting ) antidepressant was proven to be effective in large randomized trial with no side effect issues.
It will be less likely to cause problems with sleep and sexual disfunction then Prozac like medications currently in use.
Novartis has rights to develop and market Agomelatine in the US.
As usual nobody praises Integrative physicians who use melatonin for years .

Heart disease, cancer and Vitamin D
Dr. Giovanni Targher
Serum concentrations of 25 hydroxy vitamin D3 may be inversely associated with cardiovascular disease as well as some cancers and metabolic syndrome.Vitamin D3
Levels Flag Early
Heart Disease
VERONA, ITALY Vitamin D3 deficiency was found to be highly prevalent in adults with type 2 diabetes and was strongly and independently associated with early signs of atherosclerosis in a study conducted in Italy.
The results add to a growing body of evidence suggesting that serum concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 may be inversely associated with cardiovascular disease, as well as with some cancers and metabolic syndrome.
Further follow-up and interventional studies are needed to determine whether hypovitaminosis D3 predicts the development of atherosclerosis in people with type 2 diabetes, and whether vitamin D3 supplementation would be protective against atherosclerosis, Dr. Giovanni Targher and colleagues reported in a poster presentation at a joint meeting of the Italian Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Associadon of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Hot flashes and night sweats predict bone loss
Vasomotor symptoms may predict bone density.
After controlling for age, body mass index,. menstrual regularity, race, smoking Hot flashes and especially night sweats were independent predictors of low bone mass.

It is interesting to look back to see how minor events bring about major changes in life.
My interest in Anti Aging medicine was sparkled by going to Moshkov Library ( Lib.ru ) by chance, going to medical literature section and clicking on The Theory of Aging.
There was a book of close acquaintance and coworker of my father, who had been in our home back in Leningrad, USSR many times.
After reading his book I got hoocked.
I started to read more on a subject, went to couple of conferences , heard several good lectures and decided to incorporate this kind of medicine in my practice.
